Purpose and goal
The aim was to develop a demonstrator product of a wound dressing capable of measuring applied pressure. We have developed a pressure measuring device for single use. Further the aim was to get market acceptance by showing the demonstrators to focus groups. The demonstrator product was shown to one nurse with positive feedback.
Results and expected effects
The results show that our concept proved to work and we have developed a pressure measuring device that are thin, flexible, for single use and able to measure the pressure in a good way. Reactions from the nurses has been both that they have no need for this but also that this device can be a useful tool to get the compression right.
Approach and implementation
The specification for the pressure sensor was set looking at the user needs. The sensor technology development was built on the specification and a feasibility study. This work went on as expected. An evaluation method for the demonstrators was defined and lab measurements was done to verity functionality of the pressure sensor. The concept was discussed with nurses and one nurse were shown the developed demonstrator.
