Important results from the project
We want to ensure vigorous city tree stand in urban areas and that products, systems and services are developedfor the international market. Those goals are achieved by creating systems of monitoring and information, develop climate-resilient and healthy tree varieties and mobilize public opinion for city trees´ importance for sustainable cities. We have assembled a strong and competent constellation and developed a project that leads to a comprehensive system of information, monitoring, data management and channeling of society and citizen engagement.
Expected long term effects
Expected results is to develop digital technology to gather information through a webbhub, create a national database of open data, develop an app that citizens use to report and be informed about city trees, develop forms of monitoring via digital space technology or remote sensing, develop better varieties of urban trees and engage public opinion of urban trees on national level. After the interaction phase this is partly achieved, but most takes a little longer. By the time effects will be healthier and more viable urban trees contributing to more sustainable and attractive cities.
Approach and implementation
We have developed, deepened and anchored the project idea through contacts and discussions mainly nationally but also internationally. We have strengthened our national and international networks. Marketing, conferences, workshops and visits to potential partners have developed our constellation and identified development projects to be used in our innovation processes. We have developed relations to stakeholders in ICT, database building, app development etc to build skills for development in areas where we are formulating the demands but lacking own expertise.
