Purpose and goal

Örebro municipality will become a more innovative organization! The purpose of the Idea Hub (Idéslussen) is to contribute to this by taking advantage of the employees´ ideas, and providing support for possible development. Employees ideas are often a "bridge" to other departments internally or externally. Collaborations arise, and innovative development takes place. The project´s goal was to achieve a well-established Idea Hub (Idésluss) that contributes to a more innovative organization. This goal has been met, and the Idea Hub (Idéslussen) is now one of the municipality´s regular support functions for development.

Expected results and effects

Today, Örebro municipality has a well-established Idea Hub (Idéslussen), where many ideas have been developed. The ideas generate a number of positive effects for the citizens, such as safer tunnels and digitization of cultural events for increased accessibility. The ideas often lead to concrete collaboration. Employees who get to test their ideas show a high degree of satisfaction, regardless of whether the idea is implemented or not. An important result is the realization that if we are to contribute to a more innovative organization, then the idea makers are more important than the ideas.

Planned approach and implementation

The focus is on both structure and culture. A clear idea management process has been mapped and forms the basis for operation. The systematics of the work are of great value, partly to ensure quality, partly to reduce vulnerability. The work is done in parts digitally. At the same time, the physical meeting is valuable and an important part of the cultural change. It´s about involving, engaging and breaking traditional channels. Working for a permissive culture, where the courage to try is encouraged, is a prerequisite for long-term sustainable work for a more innovative organization.
