Purpose and goal

The project aimed to identify innovative solutions to the challenges in the care of the elderly to contribute to the gender equality policy objectives. The project´s goal was the standard critical design to show how an innovation and gender equality can reinforce each other.

Expected results and effects

The project resulted in five standard critical design concept which aimed to highlight how innovation and gender equality can reinforce each other. At the final conference there was an interest among municipalities, SALAR, and Vinnova idéslussar to take part of how the results of the project was packaged and distributed in an accessible way. The project´s results are deemed central to visualize new areas of innovation and to strengthen the staff working in elderly care.

Planned approach and implementation

The project started mapping the elderly from a gender perspective. Interviews, observations and visits with employees in homecare and nursing homes, research and current public debate were identified in the project´s area of focus. Alternative narratives of staff about both challenges and innovation in elderly care was identified. With the support of the standard critical design given these hidden operations a physical form and project resulted in five standard critical design concepts.
