Venture Challenge-Driven Innovation – Stage 1 initiation

Important results from the project

The project´s long-term goal is to accomplish attractive and competitive rural regions based on full Internet coverage connectivity everywhere, on a rural public network operator and on new technology´. Upon completion of Stage 1 this goal has become a step closer to reach. A cogent consortium is now in place with key representatives from society´s all problem owners, technology´s key solution providers, and a number of critical facilitators. A detailed work plan for the subsequent Stage 2 project is ready to be implemented.

Expected long term effects

Late 2016 and early 2017 mark a revival of public interest and engagement in Swedish rurality. Based on the Stage 1 results, this project is well-positioned to bring about its long-term goals inclusion, value-increase and security in Swedish rurality.

Approach and implementation

Stage 1 has been characterized by four full-day themed workshops (´Needs´, ´Solutions´, ´Testbed´ and ´Stage-2 Plan´). These workshops have deepened our cooperation in terms of mutual understanding problems and solutions, they have broadened the consortium, and they have increased focus on what needs to be done. For Stage 2, four work packages are envisaged: 1) Needs’ analysis and description 2) Economy, value chains and models 3) Proof-of-concept demonstrator, and 4) Promotional and influencing activities.
