Purpose and goal
The report aims ultimately to support the higher education institutions in there continuing work on integrating sustainable development in education and research and in collaboration with business and public sector.
Expected results and effects
The study´s result is a description of good examples on how sustainable development can be implemented. The study provide a basis for a problematization of the work towards becoming a sustainable university. A number of dilemmas that are common to most educational institutions are addressed. Awareness of these dilemmas are crucial. The personal interviews have provided the basis for conclusions about important efforts for higher education institutions and for other actors to support higher education institutions in the process towards becoming a sustainable university.
Planned approach and implementation
The choice of study object fell on studying the twelve higher education institutions that were approved in an national evaluation 2017. It is a positive selection where the twelve who performed best on the basis of the evaluation criteria were studied. The approach and selection also opens to identify and describe what opportunities and obstacles these successful educational institutions believe exist for continued good development of sustainability work.
