Important results from the project
The objectives of the project are to analyse the currently used tools and assumptions made when evaluating very high speed train services. The aim is also to improve the currently used model tools and analyse a few new forecast scenarios, e.g. a climate scenario where the fuel price and price of air tickets have been significantly increased.
Expected long term effects
- Summarize the problems that have been identified when analysing very high speed train services. - Develop the currently used models. - New and updated cost-benefit evaluation for some new scenarios. - Follow-up of international experiences of very high speed train services.
Approach and implementation
The overall project has been divided into three sub-projects: 1. Can the current tools be used to evaluate very high speed train services? 2. Which assumptions have been used in the forecasts and how big are the benefits not included in the cost-benefit analysis? 3. Should very high speed train services only be evaluated based on cost-benefit analysis or should also other factors be taken into account?
