Glazed external building envelopes

Reference number
Coordinator ECORELIEF AB
Funding from Vinnova SEK 200 000
Project duration April 2016 - June 2017
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The aim is to assure the quality of all the details of the external climate envelope regarding moisture so that the building concept can be implemented and market potential realized. The construction system now meets the requirements in the Swedish building regulations as requested in market research (eg dimensioning against storm). Only when moisture assessment based on long-term tests is done or that Accoya is CE-marked and is able to handle the building-system´s construction classification, the market potential can be fully realized.

Expected results and effects

Expected effect is estimated to be 5 houses per year. The result of the project is that requirements in BBR is fulfilled for fire regulations, structural strength and windloads. Regarding moisture safety that either requires CE marking of Accoya or long-term tests. This means that the concept can be realized for which a new company, Naturhusvillan AB, was started to take the concept out to the market.

Planned approach and implementation

Ecorelief has been project manager and developer of the "Glazed External Building Envelope" construction system in close cooperation with RISE (Research Institutes of Sweden) Division for Built environment, Safety and Transport, as well as Certification. The work has been performed iteratively where Ecorelief has developed and RISE calculated, tested and evaluated. In the project there was built and evaluated two demo objects. One was tested for rain and wind-loads in RISE´s climate chamber.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
