Project duration October 2013 - August 2015
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

Based on the national gender equality strategy, the project has analyzed the implementation of the industry-wide gender equality work. Policy analysis combined with an interactive research process, including various stakeholders of the sector in the knowledge generating process, constitute the project´s overall research approach. Using organization-specific studies and dialogue-based workshops on the ongoing gender equality efforts, the project has contributed to the development of an experience-based platform for equality innovation in the forestry sector.

Results and expected effects

The project has helped to initiate and create a practical and theoretical basis to analyze, understand and change the forestry sector gender relations. During the limited duration of the project, the project has created a platform for knowledge and experience exchange between the sector´s various stakeholders and actors. However, there remains much work to take forward this process to all parts of the sector and with regard to other challenges that the forestry sector, politics and society are facing.

Approach and implementation

With the objective to develop an experience-based knowledge platform for equality innovation in the forestry sector, the project has been carried out with the help of organization-specific studies and dialogue-based workshops on identified gender strategic interventions. The organization-specific studies have focused on a number of gender equality policies whereupon the results from these initial studies and systematic analyzes have been the basis of three interactive workshops with stakeholders.
