Project duration May 2013 - December 2013
Status Completed
Venture Challenge-Driven Innovation – Stage 1 initiation

Purpose and goal

The main goal in stage 1 was to develop the vision of future industrial services to a full project concept, suitable for a stage 2 application. The result is achieved and an application for stage 2 has been submitted. The concept is to tackle the challenging and complex area of improved maintenance as a whole, including collection of data, condition monitoring, maintenance planning, required organizational changes, and new business models. The project contains two case studies, one with trains and one with turbines, and has participation from several further industrial areas.

Results and expected effects

The project concept has been developed, and main challenges for the industrial partners have been identified. Companies from widely different areas have similar problems that need to be solved. The selected cases focus on a few business areas, but the expected results are generic for all of industry, and therefore have a large potential for positive effects.

Approach and implementation

The (stage 1) project was performed according to the plan: two workshops with approximately 15 participants each was arranged (2013-06-26 and 2013-10-04); visits was paid to Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery, Scania CV, Euromaint Rail, and Dynamate; a consortium or the stage 2 project has been created; a plan for meeting the demands from industry is produced, and the project concept has been more fully developed to fulfil the requirements on a stage 2 application.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
