Important results from the project
To analyse a market for residual materials to reduce industrial waste in European countries. We have identified possible business models for different stake holders, and methods that can be used to upgrade industrial waste into new products. The potential for the methods investigated is still high.
Expected long term effects
The initialization step will identify changes that have the potential to provide up to 30% reduction of waste in the three industries metalworking, powder coating and textile use. Tecnical logistic and regulatory methods have been identified for powder and textile, and for metal casting and sheet metal forming. Expected effects from a continued work is total reduction of unused powder waste, and increased reuse of textile and metal residues, without increasing the diffuse dissimilation of hazardous substances.
Approach and implementation
Workshops in three branchs networks, and interviews with stakeholders within the materials areas have been fruitful. The interest both within Sweden and in Europe is very high for the project idea.
