Purpose and goal

The project aimed to create practical and theoretical knowledge on gender equality/inequality in the forestry sector´s labor organizations and to further develop methods for gender equality measures in the forestry sector. This has been met by sounding boards, workshops and design teams with forest-related businesses, governments and organizations. The findings have been continuously been presented and discussed at joint conferences and the final conclusions are compiled in a report.

Results and expected effects

The project´s expected results was the design of gender equal work places in the forestry industry, which has been made possible by sounding boards, workshops and design teams in Sveaskog and forest technology cluster and its member companies. This has resulted in various strategic actions in the organizations, such as training in gender equality for the organisations´ managers and employees, as well as revision of their gender equality plans, business plans, job descriptions and recruitment procedures.

Approach and implementation

The project has involved Sveaskog, Sweden´s largest forest owner, and The Forestry Technology Cluster (including its member companies) in a participatory process of sounding board, workshops and design teams where both practical and theoretical knowledge on gender equality/inequality in the forestry sector´s labor organizations has been developed. Further companies, public authorities and organizations have been involved by two project conferences.
