Purpose and goal
Wematter,Swerea IVF and Intuitive Aerial has in a pre-study achieved to develop a demonstrator which challenges manufacturing methods of today with aluminium by replacing it with fiber reinforced polymers with same mechanical durability but with a significant reduced weight. More over is the time to market drastically reduced with the use of LDM-Local Direct Mfg, meaning that the manufacturing is located geografically near the customer and the designers blueprints is the manufacturing blueprints without any conversions and this achieved through AM-technology (Additive Mfg)
Expected results and effects
-47& lighter weight -50% lead time, from designer to finished parts -43% lower total cost Working environment demands for office use is achieved
Planned approach and implementation
Very good project group composition which is geografically situated in the same region of Linköping where light weight design will have a significant market i the near future. The resultsalso shows that small organisations can perform research and development on a high level.
