Purpose and goal

The purpose of the project is to make it easier for companies to implement XR. This is achieved by giving companies an understanding of available XR tools and helping them create a vision of how XR can be used. This will be developed: * a kit with info and exercises to help companies get started and create a vision for XR * a showroom that provides a good understanding of different types of XR technologies; what they cost and its advantages and disadvantages * new knowledge on how CAD files can be customized and structured to facilitate conversion to 3D models useful in XR applications

Expected results and effects

After the end of the project, companies will have a greater understanding of the different types of XR that exist and when to choose one or the other type as well as how XR can be used by them. There will be a digital XR showroom that both project participants and external parties can use to compare different types of XR. An XR vision kit will be freely available. This kit can be used by companies to create a vision of how to introduce XR in their business. The project will also lead to increased knowledge on how to simplify the process of creating effective XR from CAD models.

Planned approach and implementation

The main part of the work is divided into three work packages: "Mapping and comparison of XR tools", "Methodology for XR vision" and "Ordering competence". The mapping and comparison will form the basis for much of the work in the various packages and will be carried out early. As the technology is constantly evolving, the mapping will be updated as the project progresses. The leaders of the various work packages meet regularly and together with the industrial companies decide the way forward.
