Project duration April 2017 - March 2018
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The primary purpose of the project was to prove the core values of the game Down the Well, through exploration of game systems to create an experience that conveys soft values embedded in game interactions. This by iterating on prototypes and producing a playable demo that could later be used in a sales process. The goal is accomplished, and we have both design for the game as a whole, a clear production plan for the full project, as well as a prototype we use for sales purposes.

Expected results and effects

The result is in started dialogues with publishers and investors for continued development of the project. It is still too early to say what these discussions will give, and if we can start full production now or later. The project can in it’s current state be continued on into full production, either through external funding, or through internal investment in the project.

Planned approach and implementation

The project was carried out through working in sprints, according to agile processes developed internally. One of the goals was to test these processes and enhance them as the project progressed. Some of our ambitions were a bit high, and we had to adapt both design, production and method to meet the challenges we encountered. Those challenges have both been in organization (hierarchy, how to break down large tasks, and description of targets), as well as creative (how some feelings appear in the player through gameplay, and how to teach new conventions to the player).

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
