Purpose and goal

The overall goal of this project was to map the conditions for creating an XR solution that can be used both as a recruitment and as a training platform. Within the scope of the project, different directions have been identified for the further work. Partly how to technically solve the challenges that the work entails, but also where the business benefits lie. There are also clear guidelines for the different directions and there have been discussions about what the continuation should look like. The assessment is that the project has fulfilled all goals that were set.

Expected results and effects

The feasibility study has resulted in greater understanding of the needs and complexity associated with creating XR-based content for recruitment and training of process operators for the battery industry. The study has generated three design proposals for different scenarios: recruitment, battery production knowledge among the general public, and in-house training on specific machines, including proposals for suitable business models. However, it remains to verify the actual benefit of using XR for training/on-boarding, why further development and R&D are required.

Planned approach and implementation

The project was organized in 5 work packages (WP1 Project Management, WP2 Technical Prerequisites, WP3 Needs-Oriented Design, WP4 Business Model Development, WP5 Integration with existing educational infrastructure), to be able to focus on the questions upon which the project was based. All WPs had regular meetings, and there were also meetings and workshops for synchronization between WPs. Possibly, it would have been beneficial with more regular workshops across WPs, and that the design work in WP3 would have been more governing from the start.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
