Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The aim was to realize a “skill booster” for farmers regarding innovation, based on results from the project Greenovation. The aim was also to implement an idea of a concept for distance-based advisory service. The first objective was to contribute to valuable knowledge development among farmers regarding innovation and innovation work. The second objective was to implement a new advisory concept including sensors. The concept included to provide the opportunity for artificial intelligence.

Expected results and effects

Through the skill booster, farmers gained an overview of technical changes. The content of this booster included models to assess new technology in the light of economic benefits for the individual farmer. The knowledge was disseminated through Vreta Kluster, conferences in other places, fairs, field days and articles. The advisory concept gave the effect that farmers can now connect to advisers in whatever location directly from the field, and get quick answers and suggestions.

Planned approach and implementation

The development of the skill booster package was carried out by means of the contextual knowledge, information and network that had been built up in the Greenovation project. The realization of the new advisory concept was carried out through development and testing of technology, mainly near-field sensors and mobile communication technology. The work was carried out in collaboration between Linköping University, IBM and Vreta Kluster and in dialogue with Lovang Agricultural Consultant.
