Funding from Vinnova SEK 500 000
Project duration November 2015 - August 2016
Status Completed
Venture Challenge-Driven Innovation – Stage 1 initiation

Purpose and goal

Digitalisation is a key factor for increased competitiveness and innovation in the industry. However, the pace of introduction is too slow and only a fraction of the Swedish industry have taken the first steps towards digitalized products and processes. An increased pace of introduction will be required to be able to meet international competition. The project is proposing the development of a scalable service to promote and drive digitalisation of industry which will be commercially distributed based on push from consultancy companies.

Expected results and effects

The project is proposing the development of a consultancy service and has gathered a suitable consortia, aiming to help SME´s handle the complex issues involved in digitalisation, get an increased understanding of the possibilities in relation to their own business, and learn how they can work themselves long term with digitalisation in their company. After phase 2 and during phase 3 the serivce will be introduced on a broad scale to increase the pace of the digital transformation within industry.

Planned approach and implementation

The project has followed the initially outlined plan. We have run workshops which have allowed a constructive discussion about potential solutions. Through a broad mix of workshop participants we have made sure our proposed solution is distinct from existing initiatives. The project consortium has been extended to support the identified solution, for example consultancy companies have been added to secure the commercial perspective. Our analysis is that we have specified an innovative solution that will make a great difference in the pace of digitalization among Swedish SMEs.
