Project duration | December 2016 - July 2017 |
Status | Completed |
Purpose and goal
This project was aiming towards the establishment and the development of a methodology which can provide estimated information about the expected structure stiffness with regards to the thickness of the beam, the lay-ups, as well as the number and positions of the stringers.
Expected results and effects
Within this project, a numerical approach was followed in order to combine a material model (with material data which was obtained for the project), featuring different layups, thicknesses, number and position of stringers. A relation was drawn between all aforementioned and can be used for the future as a guideline.
Planned approach and implementation
Within this project material data was produced that is added to FlexProp´s portfolio and which will be used for further model/structure development. The company now has a guideline that can provide vital information concerning the jigs´ dimensions, as well as the positions of the necessary stringers. Therefore, it is expected that the lead time, workload of the stress engineers and calculation times will be reduced, which leads to significant costs reduction.
