Important results from the project
The objective with the project has been to develop circuit solutions for high frequency power amplifiers in a CMOS based SOI (Silicon On Insulator) silicon technology. The results from the prototype validation show that it is possible to replace components that are currently manufactured in both costly and environmentally hazardous technologies such as GaAs (Gallium Arsenid) with products manufactured in standard silicon technologies with less environmental impact. The prototype has been demonstrated to customers who show great interest in the potential of the product.
Expected long term effects
The main objectives of the project have been met, such as demonstrating competitive performance compared to existing products on the market. The results from the validation have been presented to key customers who are very positive, one of the customers has expressed that the results are too good to be true. This customer has therefore borrowed an evaluation board in order to be able to measure for themselves. During the project, a cooperation with an international company has been initiated which will result in the development of products based on the technology developed in the project.
Approach and implementation
The project was carried out with own resources and through cooperation with different partners, who contributed with development resources and production capacity. Patent applications have been made on consultancy basis by an international patent office. The current Corona situation delayed the delivery of the prototypes from the Philippines. Prototype validation was carried out in an external lab, which reduced the required investments of equipment but increased the consultancy cost. A wide network of contacts has been instrumental for successful implementation.
