Purpose and goal

The purpose is to demonstrate automation in municipal road operation (Stockholm City) by the driver handing over the command in selected situations. The goal is to identify opportunities and limitations with current and future technology, and put a spotlight on road operation´s central position in future equal, safe and climate efficient transport¬system.

Expected results and effects

Expected results are a compilation of how self-driving vehicles within a municipality can go, with regard to logistics, safety, working environment, trust, finances and infrastructure adaptation. This can lead to a guide for investments in infrastructure and systems that promote automation. Effects of the project is increased focus on the need for a future robust system for operation and maintenance of infrastructure for pedestrian and bicycle traffic.
