Important results from the project

The purpose of Convince is lower the energy consumption during video transmissions, where TelHoc has focused on the reducing the consumption with regard to security related aspects, as well as improving wireless links between mobile terminal and access points. TelHoc’s results can lower security related consumption by up to 11% and save 15 min battery lifetime during video streaming, as well lower energy consumption in wireless network using coding.

Expected long term effects

TelHoc’s results will be become available as software components and parts of the results will be standardized with specifications while other will shortly be patented. TelHoc will integrate these components into other products that will be developed together with other partners and customers, as well as through sales integration become available in 3rd party products. The expected effect is therefore that these products will have better improved energy consumption and performance by using the results from Convince, and that TelHoc’s sales will increase.

Approach and implementation

The project has been conducted through a consortium of European partners within Celtic-Plus through a typical European format where research and development projects are driven by work packages, deliverables and milestones. This has worked well and the project has been able to complete most of its assigned goals, even if was affected by a few partners not receiving funding in the beginning of the project, and that an inactive partner had to be replaced. TelHoc’s own goals have been achieved with good results and as expected, and with good cooperation with other partners.
