Purpose and goal

The aim was to develop a working method for describing challenges and competence needs related to digitalisation in SMEs. It was supposed to highlight the competence gap and help to determine steps to fill the gap. Such a method has been developed and tested with the support of external coaching in two companies. It is designed for a process leader and the work must be able to be carried out on two occasions plus compilation and documentation. The analysis in the company is performed by a group of employees and leaders from different parts of the company.

Expected results and effects

The result consists of a way of working to identify competence needs, competence gaps and steps to fill the competence gap related to digitalisation. The working method has been documented and made available within Produktionslyftet as well as for those who want to use it on their own. Expected effects consist of strengthened competitiveness through digitalisation and competence development initiatives based on real needs.

Planned approach and implementation

An interactive research approach has been applied to gradually develop and test the working method in two companies. Initially, an overall external analysis was conducted on similar working methods and examples that could contribute to the development. A first version of the working method was formed, which was tested iteratively together with the two companies that participated. Before the completion of the project, the work was followed up and the working method was adjusted based on the experiences of the two companies. Then the material was documented and published.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
