Competence hub for power electronics within SiC Power center and Acreo Swedish ICT

Important results from the project

The main objective of the project is to establish a hub for business area of power electronics at the WBG Power Center at RISE which a) mediates contacts and information facilitating co-operations and match of competences between the actors from industry, academia and research institutes, b) support and motivate co-operation in whole value chain on national level, c) play an active role in build-up of consortiums. The project has contributed to the realisation of the main goals by spreading information, mapping and making actors visible and associating them with the WBG Power Center.

Expected long term effects

Information by different channels about necessity of efficient power electronics and advantages of wide bandgap technology for energy efficient conversion systems including examples from R&D projects and product development by Swedish industry and information about financing opportunities by Swedens innovation and Swedish Energy agencies in connection with inspiration days, conferences, WBG Power Center seminars and trade fairs. The project has fulfilled it´s goals making visible actors and competences and concerning national coordination within power electronics area.

Approach and implementation

Approach is to meet companies during trade shows, conferences and inspiration days organized by the Smarter Electronic systems office. To inspire and activate the companies are informed about new technological trends, SCAPE conference and financing possibilities from Swedens innovation agency and Swedish Energy Agency programs. They are encouraged to join the network by participating in the seminars and conference and to join the Center. Direct visits to the companies are done when preparing application. Activities result in new industrial contacts and updating of the database.
