Common mobilisation for new processes for bio-based materials

Reference number
Coordinator INNVENTIA AB
Funding from Vinnova SEK 500 000
Project duration August 2012 - April 2013
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The objective of the project was to realize cross sectorial efforts that will lead to full-scale processes for material production. For the value-chain ´Nano composites for vehicles´, a cross sectorial constellation has been established, a project formulated, and an application for financing made. For the value-chain ´Bio-based packaging materials´, a constellation including both brand owners and forest industry has been established. A project has been formulated and is a part of the application for the SIO-program ´New bio-based materials, products and services´.

Results and expected effects

The result of the agenda project has been the establishment of two new cross sectorial constellations. These constellations have each made an application for project financing. If financing is granted, the expected outcome is new innovations and in the end completely new processes for bio-based materials. Even if financing is not granted at this stage, the constellations are expected to interact which might result in future projects and/or businesses.

Approach and implementation

The plan was to conduct the entire project in form of workshops. The first workshop, however, did not yield the expected results. The analysis that was made was that this kind of activity is better performed by meeting each partner separately or in smaller groups. The continued work was done accordingly. The fact that there was so many agenda projects in the same field, made the coordination among these demanding and also put a lot of demands on some of the participating companies. This group considers that it would have been more resource efficient to have given few projects more financing.
