Purpose and goal

Through intensive R&D in cooperation with world leading scientists, Inventech has developed a lab prototype that within a relatively short period of time will dictate the productification process. Most of the design parameters are set. A prototype was built early and has been gradually improved as more and more of the design parameters jelled. The prototype has been displayed and demonstrated for various parties, including funders and investors, and this has a crucial importance for future processes (productification and commercialization).

Results and expected effects

The expected result was to define the design parameters and to develop a lab-prototype and thereby gain knowledge to control the process the product aims at. Additional expectations involved increasing the strength of Inventech as a high tech product development company by showing that the technology works and that the development is clearly moving forward. These expectations have been met. Certain design parameters are still under investigation and some details turned out to be more challenging than expected, but the project has resulted in a major step towards productification.

Approach and implementation

Initially it was planned to use considerably more external resources. More activities than planned were carried out within Inventech. This is positive as the competence of the company has grown and broadened. A number of people have also been employed during the project. The external resources used have contributed with valuable expertise in the core areas. The project has suffered from some delays partly due to purely technical difficulties taking longer than planned and partly due to underestimation of, as well as by providers unexpectedly long, delivery times.
