Purpose and goal

CESC has met all goals. The objectives were formulated in three areas: scientific excellence and dissemination, partnership benefits and benefits for society. We have been very successful especially in the areas of scientific excellence through a large number of publications and international activity. We have also succeeded in influencing society and companies in counting more and more on digitilisation as a force in their work on sustainable development.

Expected results and effects

The CESC mission was to conduct innovative research on ICT for sustainable development and to contribute to a change in society in a sustainable direction. CESC has always maintained high pace in scientific production. In recent years, we also succeeded in reaching out with the message that digitilisation can contribute to sustainable development, but that it is crucial that development is given this direction. The title of our last publication Digitalise for the environment! is part of this message.

Planned approach and implementation

CESC´s biggest impact has been on social discourse, research and education. In debates in society we have succeeded in putting the digitilisation on the sustainability agenda. We have also been successful in getting this agenda to be retained in future research programs, and education in the field has expanded at KTH. Through success with three of the largest applications we have invested in, future research and innovation in the field has also been secured.
