Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The aim of the project was to lower the threshold of understanding the contents of the databases, and how it can be used for new applications for new target groups, often with the potential to generate secondary data users in the next step. It is difficult to say today that the implemented actions have led to an increased use but the conditions are very good. The analysis of the needs in the beginning of the project clearly pointed out some issues and these have been taken care of within the project.

Results and expected effects

The analysis of the needs gave a very comprehensive material for the direction of the further work. In the phase ´Production of training material´ the project has followed the interim report. The following have been developed or implemented; tutorials, development of metadata, the development of interfaces. In the phase ´Increase awareness and disseminate result´ the following has been produced: tutorial for search interface, article in magazine ´Medvind´, blog posts for professionals within civil engineering, trade press article, new web site structure, hand-out.

Approach and implementation

The activities presented in the interim report have all been completed with the exception ´Introduction to basic meteorology´. During the work it was found that the search interface could solve some of the problems with finding the right instructions and other helping documents. In order to further develop the search interface, this work had to be bought externally and was carried out by an consultant. Expenses for travel and materials were slightly less than planned and intellectual property slightly higher.
