Beds with adjustable firmness

Purpose and goal

The goal of the project was to develop a production-ready construction of a bed with the best possible comfort. The bed has two crucial differences from a standard bed. The first is the adjustable firmness, which means that the customer with a remote control can easily obtain the softest and hardest firmness in one and the same bed. Our technology differs from others as the comfort regarding flexibility is not negatively affected. The other unique component is the combination of damping and suspension. We can now proudly put our bed on the market with the slogan "The bed revolution"

Expected results and effects

The good outcome regarding comfort and design gives us good opportunities to niche ourselves in the higher price segment. We see it as crucial to differentiate ourselves from competitors in order to achieve international success. The initial intention is to keep a high price at the expense of sales volume. Brand establishment is the most important thing for us in the coming years. The expected outcome is that the bed will receive premium status. When this is achieved, the focus shifts to increased sales volumes abroad.

Planned approach and implementation

Originally, a large part of development was planned to take place abroad with the help of partners. The pandemic radically changed that approach. The original implementation plan quickly lost relevance. Instead we change to an agile approach to constantly revise and adapt. Conversion to development on a smaller scale at home took time beaucase we first expected a short time of travel restrictions. When we then made the decision, the next problem was the component deliveries. In the end, we have found a method that worked well.
