Automatic quality assurance and root cause analysis in running production

Reference number
Coordinator Chalmers Tekniska Högskola AB - Chalmers Tekniska Högskola Inst f Industri- & materialvetensk
Funding from Vinnova SEK 6 490 000
Project duration November 2021 - October 2024
Status Ongoing
Venture FFI - Sustainable Production

Purpose and goal

The goal of the project is to develop a system that can measure and analyze details in a cold / hot forming process with a frequency of 0.5Hz. Then it is estimated that you can: -Increase the number of verified details by 100 times -Reduce the need for adjustment and scrapping of relevant details by 10% The project contributes to the overall FFI goals by: -Sustainable and resource-efficient energy consumption by and increases resource utilization -Robust and efficient production

Expected results and effects

The technology that is developed means that it will be possible to verify products directly in the production flow without having to take random checks, remove details from the production flow or discard / adjust details that have been manufactured before errors are discovered. Another advantage is the lead time saved by reducing troubleshooting of details with quality defects. This results in a robust and efficient production in which energy consumption, scrapping, adjustments and material consumption are reduced and resource utilization is increased.

Planned approach and implementation

The work will be performed in 5 different work packages (Measurement, Data Management, Analysis, Feedback and Process) as well as an administration package and a communication package. The work in the different work packages depends on each other and needs to be linked. This is done through an active interaction between the partners and the various APs. Knowledge of the expected quality for a process or a party can also be taken further as input to variation simulation for future products and product families. Methods and tools are verified in industrial demonstrators.
