Airsense - innovative particle measurement system for clean air

Reference number
Coordinator RISE Research Institutes of Sweden AB - Rise Acreo AB, Sensorsystem
Funding from Vinnova SEK 500 000
Project duration April 2018 - August 2019
Status Completed
Venture Challenge-Driven Innovation – Stage 1 initiation

Purpose and goal

The particle sensor concept has been verified. The project scope has been broaden to include a system perspective. The consortium has been expanded in contact and dialogue with other stake holders. We have gathered valuable information from contacts at GU and has gained knowledge in the area of particle measurements from a transport context. New potential partners are interested in participating in a step 2 application where the interest is based on the common agreement of the need and potential to commercialize the results of the project.

Expected results and effects

The result of the project is the increased understanding of the opportunities that will be created. Reliable sensor data will offer a system that has the potential to meet the challenges related to poor air quality and its health aspects. In a stage 2 application, we will increase the consortium with another air quality sensor, communication and a broader system perspective including services. Collaboration between the project partners has been enhanced. The system planned depends on core competences within the project consortium and their complementarity.

Planned approach and implementation

Visits have been performed at the sites of two of the project partners, which lead to an increased understanding of their need of air quality monitoring. Two work shops have been held during the project where the first was focused on the needs and requirements specifications. The second work shop had the goal to invite and expand the project consortium to prepare for a stage 2 application. Furthermore, work has been performed to identify needs and regulations together with a market analysis, which will form the foundation for a stage 2 application.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
