Reference number
Coordinator Bombardier Transportation Sweden AB - Propulsion & Controls
Funding from Vinnova SEK 17 543 232
Project duration October 2018 - March 2022
Status Completed
Venture Eureka cluster co-funding

Purpose and goal

** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** The XIVT project aimed to develop tailor-made methods and a tool chain to test highly configurable, variant-rich embedded systems, especially in the automotive, railway, telecommunications and industrial production domains. Test cases were designed automatically using a knowledge- and model-based approach as well as machine learning techniques for a highly efficient and cost-effective quality assurance process for variant-rich software systems.

Expected results and effects

** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** The XIVT project has developed a set of solutions and methods as part of a consolidated tool chain to improve and optimize the testing process of variant-rich industrial systems. Among other things, solutions for automated analysis of text requirements and recommendation of software components and test cases for reuse across different product versions and variants, use of static analysis to identify an optimal set of test parameters and combinatorial scenarios, optimal generation of variants.

Planned approach and implementation

The XIVT project was coordinated by Bombardier from Sweden with support from RISE Research Institutes of Sweden who acted as technical coordinator. The Swedish consortium, which also consisted of Mälardalen university college, Addiva, ABB and Percepio, collaborated with international partners from Canada, Germany, Portugal and Turkey. To further promote the results of the project, the consortium has organized international and national workshops and industrial events, such as ITEQS, published a number of research articles and also produced podcasts.
