Purpose and goal

At the start of this project, we had a wide mission: to give everyone a simple way to create and use 3D models of real-world objects and places. Our work since then has resulted in a tighter strategy. In the 3D future, everything around you - your suit, glasses and training apps - are perfectly tailored to you. Volumental enable this future by creating a digital avatar of your body and linking the measurements to companies who create tailored products and services. Our first market to reach this future is easily creating accurate 3D models of feet, for foot orthotics and shoe retail.

Results and expected effects

Most importantly, we have become more focussed and we have promising traction. The projects overarching goals, detailed in our project proposal have been met and have in many cases exceeded expectations. Found ideal B2B market strategy and have traction, expect 2-3 commercial rollouts in Q4 2014 PR: consistently topped ´hot tech company´ rankings and made headlines in Wired, engadget, etc, attended 4+ relevant fairs/trade shows, thus ending up on the global radar for 3D and tech Scalability and sales always in focus Got crowd funding and raising VC round.

Approach and implementation

The goals set up for the four milestone were setup as we went along, which helped focus our work throughout the project and ensure a lean, flexible approach, worked closely with the BMC and testing our MVPs on customers. The innovation ecosystem has been great: STING, Born Global, etc. For our next project, we especially want to improve on three aspects of our planning and implementation. 1. Always add more time margins for sales! 2. Ensure the team is all sitting in one place, rather than distributed. 3. Have even closer relationships with partners and channels.
