Important results from the project
UHS is an international forum for personally invited decision makers, opinion leaders and experts aiming a multi-disciplinary and cross-functional dialogue on opportunities to improve care and health via better use of research and innovations. The dialogue should be solution-oriented, and address important related difficult questions and dilemmas. The aim of the project is met, and the project partners have decided to continue to develop the forum UHS.
Expected long term effects
UHS has proven its ability to credibly gather leading actors in the health- and healthcare sectors from around the world to proactive and substantive dialogue. UHS has attracted delegates from all sectors of society from as many as 33 countries in 2015, including the WHO and the FAO. Contacts with WHO have continued, and we are looking into opportunities for cooperation in research and training. The parties behind the UHS decided in 2015 to continue the project for at least three more years. The decision is based on the delegates´ evaluation and the parties´ own perceptions.
Approach and implementation
The Steering Committee decides the theme for UHS, following an analysis of ongoing policy issues, eg. adopted international plans. The goal for UHS is to define next step to implement or improve such plans. Discussions with experts from UHS partners define sub-themes and dilemmas to include. Experts from the partners prepare workshops on each sub-theme, and contribute to build the plenary program. We map international actors for personal invitations. The state-of-art for the theme is described in a Pre-Conference Report. Conclusions from the summit are documented in a final report.
