Important results from the project
We have established cooperative partners for the forthcoming project. The projects organization is planned. The gender reassignement health care in VGR is changing, much due to the reports from Socialstyrelsen, but the project has been provided with valuable insight in the current situation and upcoming changes. The project has also gotten essential input regarding the trans communitys experiences of primary health care in VGR and has begun to grasp the areas where changes need to be done in order to make primary health care accessible for transidentified patients.
Expected long term effects
The health among the trans community is known through national research and health surveys. The feasible study has taken part of the trans communitys experiences of primary health care. Areas within the primary health care where measures need to be taken are clarified. The feasibility study has also begun an inventory regarding the primary health care professionals needs in order to reach trans specific knowledge. Because both health care professionals and the trans community have been asked and included the planned internet based health care guide is beginning to outline.
Approach and implementation
There have been two reference groups. One consisted of professionals within VGR. They provided the project with important insight regarding organization and the various assignments within primary health care. It has also led to the project being broadly anchored within VGR. The other represented the trans community and has provided insight regarding the trans communitys experiences of primary health care and what needs to change in order to gain accessibility. The project was made visible for the trans community through a seminar during West Pride.
