Purpose and goal

During the course of the project, we have developed methods and a system (a mobile phone app) to help people with neuropsychiatric disabilities to navigate in a complex urban environment. The main goal of the project is thus fulfilled. The system has been tested on members of the target group, and we then found that there is still some work to be done to improve and stabilize the system. Development, testing, evaluation and commercialization of the system now continue in other projects.

Expected results and effects

We have achieved the expected result: an analysis of the needs of the target group through in-depth interviews, and a stable system that has been developed in consultation with representatives of the target group. The system has been tested by members of the target group, and experiences have been utilized to improve the design of the system. The project has also resulted in a scientific publication at the SIGDIAL conference.

Planned approach and implementation

The in-depth interviews gave us a good insight into the problem, and guided the initial design, which was later refined iteratively in cycles of system development and testing. This approach proved fruitful, as errors and deficiencies could be quickly detected and corrected. We would have liked another cycle of testing and evaluation with members from the target group, but the project time was not enough.
