Purpose and goal

This project had three main areas of interest: 1. To conduct a research study with focus on the connections between technology, services and storytelling for the media consumption of the future. 2. To create a "Discovery center" with events, such as competitions in media and innovation, and exhibitions around storytelling with new digital technology. 3. To continue to develop a roadmap for a future consortium with focus on media technology research. The research project can present valuable and useful results within all the main areas mentioned above.

Expected results and effects

The research results have been spread in the following way: 2 scientific journal articles 1 scientific conference paper 1 scientific conference presentation at ECREA in Prague 1 popular scientific article in Medievärlden Analys 2 lectures at the meetings of Global Alliance of Media innovation, in Vienna 1 lecture for the Norwegian Media industry organization in Oslo 2 lectures at the Data journalism conference in Odense, NODA17 2 Master theses by KTH students working at Dagens Nyheter Media Hackathon at KTH Exhibition at the Dome of Visions at KTH

Planned approach and implementation

The aim of the project was to give an injection of new creative ideas to spark the innovative abilities of the media industry. The exhibition in the Dome of Visions and the Media Hackathon were examples of such inspirational events for the media industry. However, to run a research project with competing media companies turned out to be more challenging than expected. Therefore, the research workshops were held individually at the participating media companies. This arrangement gave good research results, especially in combination with individual interviews.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
