Project duration November 2012 - July 2013
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The project purpose is to launch Swedish technology in new system solutions on larger growth markets, to meet requirements that do not exist on the Swedish market. The project objectives include finding project methods that yield commercial possibilities for involved parties. Fulfillment: All proposed technology areas have been intact during stage A. The discussions in the group of eight participants have reinforced the benefits of proposed solutions. Probably, more technology suppliers will be involved in the project as a result of this iterative process.

Results and expected effects

Results and effects in technology areas: (HiTechBuilding is abbreviated HTB below) Result: Energy - Façade integrated solar panels installed on HTB. Mineral sample tests at KTH show possibilities for cool/heat storage in boreholes. Reuse of tap water - Biological grease separation and oxidation technology installed in HTB. Field tests have been carried out with new equipment for sludge removal from ponds. Potable tap water - Analysis of water from Dalian shows no heavy metals. Interviews with Chinese real estate firms show an increasing interest for potable tap water in China.

Approach and implementation

The project structure and implementation have been managed according to plan. The supporting structure is Triple Helix and the development base are two development buildings, in Sweden and in China. These two buildings have proved to be of greater importance than initially perceived by the project leader. On project start-up, these buildings were regarded as physical sites for tests and R&D. However, the buildings are increasingly regarded as unifying assets, also for groups outside the project. It is our belief that the physical environment stimulates and accelerates development.
