Swedish ICT ECS impact on Horizon 2020

Purpose and goal

1.Swedish representatives shall be fully involved in, and be able to influence, the main organizations preparing work programmes for future EU projects: We have been active in and have been influencing most of the relevant organisations. 2.The development of Swedish priorities shall be realised in open workshops ensuring that all proposals are taken into account: We have not been able to implement that to the expected level. 3.The advocacy at the EU level shall lead to an increased and successful participation of Swedish actors in the EU project: It is too early to be able to measure this.

Expected results and effects

ECSEL MASRIA via ARTEMIS, ENIAC and EPoSS and the Horizon 2020 Work Programme 2018-2020 related to Photonics have been influenced. The stimulation of the Swedish participation in Horizon2020 has occurred through direct contacts and with the organisation of a workshop in November 2015 with about 70 participants. An organisation gathering the Swedish ICT actors has been developed and started, Digital Sweden. It will organise the collaboration within the ICT field and the advocacy activities in Europe and in Sweden.

Planned approach and implementation

1.National strategies and joint preparation of the advocacy activities: proper GAP analysis between national and European strategies could not be performed but should be possible to realise in the framework of Digital Sweden. 2.Advocacy at the EU level has happened mostly through individuals with well-established anchoring in EU organisations. 3.Swedish cooperation in the advocacy activities has been working very well and will become even stronger with the creation of Digital Sweden. 4.Creation of consortia and alliances for strong project applications still is in its infancy.
