Important results from the project
During the walk from Ystad to Stockholm we educated 19 out of 26 municipalities, one county government, and one state agency about open data and the sustainable development goals of the UN. Our goal was 20 municipalities. In total we had 22 meetings with 70 municipal officials and 11 politicians, 20 state and 2 county officials, and 7 other people. The posts on Facebook about the walk had a reach of 42 192 people where 3 421 interacted with these in some way.
Expected long term effects
We have done a survey of how open data is available in the 26 municipalities and how it is presented. The survey has covered where the data and metadata is and how well it is highlighted by the municipality. In addition, we have made an assessment of the data quality according to the star model and of the clarity in licensing. This means that they can easily continue with improvements. Generally speaking, the situation was pretty bad so even small actions can have major effects.
Approach and implementation
The reception in the meetings was good and the training sessions have been good. We probably had been able to arrange more meetings if we had managed to make contact with the municipalities earlier. It helped that we were flexible with meeting length, but unfortunately we did not have enough space in the schedule to be flexible with the date of the meetings.
