Purpose and goal

Musselfeed create climate smart feed and food from mussels. Mussels are a huge unexplored source of high quality protein and healthy marine -oils. Mussel farms also reduces the negative effects of eutrophication. In comparison to other protein sources, Musselfeeds raw material has much lower climate impact. Over 160 times lower than the Swedish beef. Financing from Vinnova have contributed to that a research project have developed into a business in an early commercialization stage.

Expected results and effects

Prioritize Initialized cooperation with two different applications within food industry, regarding prototype development. Explore The project has resulted in that mussel suppliers, and future customers in Sweden, Norway and Germany have been identified and relationships have been created. Develop - We have identified five different supplier of process equipment. We have also started testing out a potential supplier.

Planned approach and implementation

The work has been performed by the CEO, Sofia Kocher and the founder Odd Lindahl. The operational work has been focusing on face to face meetings with potential cooperation partners and customers. An advisory board has been giving strategic input to the business. The advisory board has consisted of: Linus Bille founder and CEO of Eicorn, experience from marketing, sales, financing and innovation. Bengt Gunnarsson CEO Camparus, experience within food production, eg as Manager, ABBA Seafood AB. Peter Kenamets, Attorney at Law, at Awapatent, with focus on patent and IP rights.
