Purpose and goal

The goal of the project was to identify the prerequisites and solutions needed for a sustainable and local fish processing node in Skåne. A vision for a future sustainable food chain for fish and seafood has been established, pilot sites for testing technology and actors that can develop solutions connected to logistics, education/training for fish processing and business models have been identified and involved in the next Project phase (steg 2).

Expected results and effects

One of the purposes of the fish processing node is to be able to meet an increased demand for sustainable foods. In the stakeholder analysis that was carried out, a great interest was shown among actors, both within production, the market and linked to the processing industry. The outcome was positive as a number of additional actors have announced that they will participate in the next stage. Others have also shown interest in being part of the reference group and exchange experience and knowledge in the continued work.

Planned approach and implementation

The project participants have conducted interviews and workshops to jointly define the criteria for a sustainable food chain for fish production and what it means in the various steps in the chain (production, processing, market) as well as what innovations and new solutions are needed to enable a future sustainable processing node. The interest in participating in the node has been great, but the current situation with Covid-19 may have affected the involvement of some actors, as other more urgent measures have been given priority.
