Purpose and goal

The team fulfilled the following goals. To test acceptance and performance of Sidekick software among different populations and update accordingly. Updates to Sidekick included: adjustments based on test-results; increased content; richer social and gamification features; and localization for new markets. Develop and verify the Sidekick portal and later update to version 2.0. Prepare for and take first steps towards commercial distribution. Perform market research and prepare first steps in marketing and sales.

Expected results and effects

The project resulted in important verification in the solution’s efficacy and user experience with different target groups. The software, including the mobile application and clinical portal, was improved significantly, using results from verification studies to advance the product towards a commercially viable version. A successful proof of concept opened the doors for the company to initiate sales and marketing efforts, both in Sweden and internationally.

Planned approach and implementation

During the project period, the product was verified association with our academic collaborators including the Sahlgrenska University Hospital and other leading institutions. During the project verification studies were executed, for general health-enhancement as well as amongst populations of patients with lifestyle-related conditions. The software was developed in parallel to the studies and adapted to results from these studies and user testing. The marketing and sales strategy was mapped, both for healthcare and occupational health services.
