Reference number
Coordinator Maskinbolaget i Falun AB
Funding from Vinnova SEK 500 000
Project duration June 2015 - December 2015
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

To make scrap handling in slitting lines better from a ergonomic viewpoint and also make benefit from cost efficiency and process reliability. The tests we have done shows that the technical concept is working and that we can cut strip in a speed that is useful in a commercial point of view for certain applications in steel mill industry. With a compact machine offer a non contact and silent scrap handling for steel mill process industry.

Expected results and effects

Lower costs for scrap handling by haveing as few rotating parts in motion as possible. In a ergonomic perspektiv redice manually handling of scrap and lower noise in a otherwise very noisy process. Be able to deliver a compact machine that will be easy to assamble in a excisting machine.

Planned approach and implementation

A mock-up has been designed and manufactured and tests have been done. Tests with steel plate in different dimensions, materials and profiles have been done. All important variables for the purpose have been noted and will be the base for further work. From the tests, one can see a trend of ´linear´ behavior which is to consider as an important discovery.
