Purpose and goal

The Agenda for resource-efficient material utilization has the strength and support from stakeholders to form future research and innovation efforts as e.g. a Strategic Innovation Programs linked to Resource-Efficient Material Utilization. Within the scope of the agenda we have developed and formulated a vision for material utilization in 2030 and identified six priority areas in research and innovation to develop and support in order to strengthen Resource-efficient Material Utilization, and thus strengthen the Swedish Eco industry. The expected results are achieved.

Results and expected effects

We have created an agenda with a broad support to form the basis for future research and innovation efforts, as well as support to the development of new business opportunities for Swedish enterprises. A large number of organizations have been engaged in the process and we have developed a proposal for future research and innovation efforts in the field. A proposal for a strategic innovation area based on the agenda has been submitted, and our goal is to develop the area in line with the agenda. Synergies with other agendas have been identified and we continue to develop joint project ideas.

Approach and implementation

The project structure consisting of a working group, a steering committee and a stakeholder group has worked out well. The stakeholder group gathered representatives from organizations incl. industry, academia and authorities. Three workshops have been organized on the subjects´ prevention of waste, reuse and materials recycling, respectively. The results have been an important input to the agenda. The great interest and active participation demonstrates a genuine commitment to resource-smart material utilization. The agenda may now form the basis for future collaborations.
