Important results from the project
I have finally developed a new product that is very easy to use, hygienic and safe, made of carbon fiber. It replaces today the heavy equipment, and / or staff that must stand inside the ICU room to hold the detector and be exposed to X-rays. I have also developed an accessory that can be easily applied at JG so it also can be used on ordinary bunks and X-ray tables.
Expected long term effects
As always when developing new products you come on sidetracks. So also have I several times during the project. I have got to rethink several times, discussed with the staff, rebuilt and then test again, again and again. So there have been a few prototypes before I got everything to work like I wanted, considering to ergonomics, safety, hygiene and function.
Approach and implementation
I have worked with X staff at Thorax ICU and CIVA on KS. At the end, also with the staff at SöS. From the start the we thought we could develop a bracket that would be attached to the bed but it was harder than we thought. Because of safety and hygiene reasons you can´t put anything permanent on the ICUbed. So I had to start over again and think new. Then we came on the idea that we could use the bed rail instead The product weighed initially too much so in the end I took the decision to develop in carbon-fiber. An expensive material but extremely durable, lightweight, hygienic and tidy. A good result!
