Important results from the project
The purpose, to map on-going national initiatives and judge the industrial use of a ´Testbed for sustainable composites´, was achieved within the pre-study. The results from workshops and discussions showed a clear industrial interest as well as synergies with on-going initiatives for test beds and centres for lightweight materials and bio based composites. Therefore, excellent possibilities exist to establish a national resource for test- and development of sustainable lightweight composite products.
Expected long term effects
The workshops and discussions within this pre-study resulted in positive effects in that the industry, and to a certain extent academy, realized the potential benefit of a coordinated ´Testbed for sustainable composites´. The already on-going dialogue with other test beds and centres for lightweight materials and bio composites, enables excellent possibilities for establishing a national resource for test- and development of sustainable lightweight composite products.
Approach and implementation
The outline of this pre-study was to map Swedish resources and actors within the same or partially overlapping areas, starting a dialogue with other actors and especially industry in order to establish the foundation for a ´Test bed for sustainable composites´. The feedback from the workshops exceeded the expectations. The workshop directed at the academy had lower participation and attitudes to the test bed were open but not enthusiastic. The second workshop comprised about 20 industry representatives and resulted in valuable input and suggestions for development of a test bed.
