Important results from the project
A foundation has been created to build a strategically important arena to provide flexible turnkey solutions in coating and joining of composites and multi-materials. A cross-industry consortium has been formed and the initial organization has been established to run the test arena also long term. An application for a continuation project will be submitted in the fall announcement and be based on results from the pilot study.
Expected long term effects
The various components of the test arena in the form of equipment, skills, sustainability and business development have been identified and will form the basis of the next application. A pilot research project has been implemented in the pilot study which tested an approach where equipment from several different parties were used to provide flexibility, and ensure relevant equipment. There was also a concept of a simple sustainability assessment incorporated and was appreciated as an additional assessment of the developed process.
Approach and implementation
Discussions with companies and other initiatives have been had through both individual meetings, visits and workshops. A cross-industry consortium has been formed with product owners, suppliers, industry associations and researchers. Both vehicles, aerospace and orthopedic products are included. A business plan has been initiated and a proposal on a sustainable organization has been developed in collaboration with the Test arena for Sustainable Composites and RISE ToD Composite Production. A pilot project has been done and will continue in a larger consortium.
