Purpose and goal
A new methodology for measuring and comparing structural coverage of PIM and PSM has been developed. Coverage criteria have been defined, with which the structural coverage given by a test suite can be measured with high accuracy already at the PIM level. The results from experiments, using five different software applications from the development environment at Saab, show that the correlation between the structural test coverage at PIM and PSM with our methodology is 100 % in most cases and over 99,5 % in all cases.
Expected results and effects
The benefit for Saab is the ability to measure test coverage on PIM, meaning that test activities can be performed at the same abstraction level as where the design is specified and that the test coverage ratio PIM / PSM can be determined. PILOT has also contributed to the internal workings of how DO-331 can be used to create cost efficiency improvement for model verification. The benefit for the Universities (HIS, LIU) has primarily been the research collaboration with Saab, which has had a positive impact on other research projects and strengthened the software testing research.
