Purpose and goal
The scope of the project is to develop methods that can be employed in passive and multistatic radar systems. Research in the project will be carried out in the areas of system performance considerations, suppression of ground clutter and analyses of fundamental target identifiability in passive and multistatic radar.
Expected results and effects
The project is expected to strengthen Saab’s and Chalmers’ knowledge in new and advanced methods for passive and multistatic radar systems. Expected results are in the areas of efficient methods for ground clutter suppression, and how the outcome from the analyses of fundamental target identifiability will affect a suitable tracking method. The project is also expected to increase Saab’s competitiveness in the area of advanced radar systems.
Planned approach and implementation
The project will build on earlier studies of passive and multistatic radar systems. The overall strategy is a good and detailed modelling of the characteristics and constraints of the problems. These models will later help to guide the development of efficient methods for suppression of ground clutter, how to describe system performance and how fundamental characteristics of such a system affects a suitable tracking method. These activities are seen in the five work packages in the project.
